The Ongoing War On The Internet

This is old news now, but earlier this week, David Cameron has announced that he will be pushing towards action for pornography restriction to be placed on all internet users by using filters at the ISP level. Anyone who apparently still wants to access any adult sites will need to phone up their internet provider and specifically ask for the ability to be able to connect to those sites.

Whilst this subject has been covered no doubt all over the internet for the past week already, I just want to highlight to those who are unaware, some of the other on-going changes to the internet which are occurring right now. If you are to check off the other things which are expected to change over the next year or so, then this current call for pornography censorship under the guise of 'protecting the children' can be seen in context.

This is something I actually already covered in an old blog which I moved away from back in May, but for the sake of saving everyone's time, I'll just raise some bullet points and go through them;

  • After all the revelations about how the press in the UK had been hacking peoples phones, making false statements and manipulating politicians and paying Police for information, the Government decided to call for a 'Independent press regulator'. Unfortunately, the wording used by some ministers seems to suggest that under new legislation, blogs such as this one may be sued for libel. This is however an on-going issue, and decisions have at the moment been put off until Autumn of this year.
  • On top of the possibility of being sued for saying incorrect information over the internet about someone else, it is also a growing trend for people on the internet to be convicted for 'abuse' over sites such as Facebook or Twitter. This isn't something isolated to the UK however, and is occurring more and more all over the world.
  • Possibly the biggest and most concerning threat to the internet in both the UK and the United States is the anti-piracy legislation due to start next year whereby all our download history will be tracked by ISP's (presumably all torrent sites will also be blocked too.) The real sting is that there are currently plans to charge people to contest their guilt. Welcome to the Brave New World!
Whilst I agree that parents should take steps to prevent their children from viewing pornography, this notion of just blanket banning it is ridiculous and simply will not work, as is the idea off stopping child abuse simply by blocking it off the net. Ironically, nothing is really mentioned about the trend of late with the sexualisation of children in general (even some of the children's magazines offer sex and dating advice.)

A worrying thing to mention about the slippery slope of blocking certain things from the internet however: I remember when I first got my Smartphone with O2 and there was a number of political websites of which I couldn't gain access to because all O2 phones come with adult protection on them as standard (like this proposal, you have to phone someone up and request it be taken off.) It also barred many websites even if there was a swear word or naked picture on a page - most people would need to take it off within a fortnight because there would be so much you would be unable to access it'd simply infuriate you. Not that you couldn't access it through a proxy if you really had the determination, thus the whole premise of this idea is completely flawed.

Ironically, the company that they wish to outsource the 'porn filter' to is Huawei, a company with close links to the Chinese Government. Great to see how 'Corpommunist' China is the model for our 2.0 Western society. It doesn't take a genius to consider where this will lead in the coming years (wonder how long before 'extremist' or 'terrorist' websites are blocked along with those torrent sites next year.)

Whether you agree that pornography should not be seen or not is irrelevant, the real question is will these powers be abused to serve other purposes once they have the public's support for this pornography block (which I don't think they ever will in all honesty.) Whilst checking the BBC's article, my faith in humanity was restored slightly when you see that most people are getting switched on to what is happening with the internet, read the top five comments below:

This isn’t really about porn though is it? This is the thin end of the wedge whereby my Glorious Leaders will soon decide which sites are right for me and which aren’t.

Oh for crying out loud, if I'm old enough to vote or to go and die for my country please credit me with the intelligence to decide what I can and cannot view on the internet.

Yet more changes under the guise of "won't somebody think of the children?"
So, rather than encouraging responsible parenting you block every user, including those that will never have children.
This should be OPT IN not OPT OUT.
As number 4 notes, this will block other sites that will require the user to request an unblock, and probably put them on some horrid list for being a deviant.

Surely the responsibility to protect children from pornography lies with the parents?

Why not just introduce a simple opt-OUT system?

Porn today, articles criticising the current regime next. How would we know?

Its a relief that people are beginning to wake up to the on-going war on the internet. Its far from over yet, but with enough public awareness we can stand-up to the Governments all over the world trying to use any excuse to shut down free-speech and free transfer of information!

The True Value Of Gold

Since ancient times, mankind has associated precious-metals with wealth. Today, despite having a world economy based on mathematical impossibilities and endless perpetual environmental and sociological damage, Gold (and to a lesser extent Silver) is still the material which men seek to hold onto to secure wealth in hard times.
Gold has been a symbol of power and wealth since
time immeasurable.

Over the past decade or so, Gold has risen from a fairly modest average of $400USD an ounce in the early 2000's to a phenomenal high last year in 2012 to nearly $1900 USD an ounce. This increase far surpassed inflation rates and was predominately linked to the failing world economy and insecurity in the world. This year in 2013 however, Gold's price has shrunk back down to $1200USD an ounce, levels last seen in 2010.

These price fluctuations however are a killer, precious metal prices are more or less unpredictable and tend to go up in panic buying stages depending on how the economy is doing, making profit off of buying and selling stock can therefore be very difficult, if not impossible, unless you buy a substantial amount of stock.

What is worrying however when it comes to the precious metal sales, is the Charlatans who whip up economic concerns in order to shift vast amounts of silver and gold bullion to concerned members of the public who only have their families survival at heart. Just think for yourself a moment people: if you was adamant that the world as we know it was about to end, and silver coins would prepare you for that, why would they be selling it to you for FIAT paper in the most dangerous economic times? You know the answer, I'm sure, its a scam! We've all seen the adverts on programmes headed by people such as Alex Jones, and it may seem like they are offering great free advice, but they have their own families mouths to feed too, don't be sucked into their exaggerated doom-porn news stories, and don't be fear mongered into parting with your cash over it either.

Speaking of scams, the hundreds of 'Cash for Gold' shops that exist today are yet another example of how we are being ripped off. The prices they offer may seem a good deal at the time, but I expect most people do not stop to check that morning how much the average ounce of Gold costs to check and make sure that they are getting a good deal. Which I promise you, you aren't.

Gold Prices 2000 to 2013.

Of course if you looked at the date at which the price of Gold suddenly went flying up the graph and the approximate date in which a surge in 'Cash for Gold' companies began trading, you will see that it is more than likely a way of keeping Gold prices artificially high. I mean, even Gordon Brown sold off all the British Gold reserves for the thieving banks to steal and swallow, suspiciously around the same time that a lot of 'Cash for Gold' companies started, and world prices began to shoot up. Get the public to sell low and sell back at exorbitant levels to keep investment artificially high for the bankers who have been practically given it.

Ok, lets keep this simple. So you sell your Gold to someone at 'Cash For Gold', and they then bag it up and sell it onto the mint for a profit who then melts down your family heirloom in a massive forge, increases the fineness and then creates large Gold Bullion bars. Who do you think buys the Gold? That's right, generally the Government or Banks for 'investment'.

Why?

Because the global financial elites need to make sure they've sucked every bit of value out of the world, I mean you only need to read my last article about Libya to understand how vulnerable any financially secure group or Government is. The emerging globalisation that is coming to a head in our lifetimes is as clear as day. It will be a world free of national borders, where the bankers call all the shots, and they need to make sure they've cleaned up before they begin implementing a combined 'World Bank' protocol which is essentially the financial takeover and blackmailing division of the UN (check the 'World Banks goals with the UN and you will see they are more or less carbon copies of one another.) On the face of it, their goals seem very honourable, yet the road there is by misleading and blackmailing the world into submission to gain unification. Once the world is unified, it would be very difficult to change the way in which things work because they will control every aspect of health, education and materials.

So what would I suggest? I'm not a prophet, but I currently see the world torn at a crossroad right now. On the one hand we might see a controlling world 'Nanny' state where we are all equal so long as you agree with our new 'banker-come-technocrat' leaders, or on the other hand, we might end up with Western Civilization crippled, putting us back to the Victorian times. Either way, you can't eat Gold, and although I may see buying small amounts as a long term retirement investment worthwhile, I certainly do not see any point in buying the stuff like it was going out of fashion.

If you seriously think that the world as we know it is about to collapse, you would do much better buying water filtration systems and solar panels and son on, sitting starving in a room full of Silver and Gold bullion doesn't sound like the best survival tactic to me.

That said, I am no prophet, and I have no crystal ball, I would just urge people to look at the wider picture before committing vast amounts of financial assets. One thing that is known to us though, is the past, and recently scientists have found out why Gold and other precious metals are so rare to begin with.

According to one science report, after observing the aftermath of a binary neutron Star collision, it appears that that is where heavy metals come from, meaning all of the jewellery that we wear today was forged in an extremely violent explosion in space. Which is pretty cool. Of course we are all made of star dust, but the rarity of precious metals is because these events are, well, rare!

To make the existence of Gold and other heavy metals here on Earth even more extraordinary, those that we do find here today came to Earth when our planet was still a molten ball of fire, and asteroids full of these heavy metals collided with the young earth and were essentially 'folded into' the planets architecture, instead of forming naturally like other minerals and metals found today.

Some companies however are now considering getting out into space and extracting Gold and Platinum from nearby asteroids, something exciting and of course ironic, seeing as the genesis of mankind is steeped in the existence of Gold and Silver for currency.

If Gold and Platinum really is as rare in space as it is on Earth, it might of course mean that future transactions with Alien races may be settled in those rare materials, a interesting notion which makes certain theories on the real reason mankind exists on planet Earth at all, a tiny bit more credible perhaps.

Syria is Another Libya

The old maxim of "history is doomed to repeat itself' is a good one, and when one looks at history you can generally find an underlining pattern of events whether its the creation and collapsing of empires or even fashion sense being repeated every other generation.

When however you look at what is happening in Syria you could be forgiven for getting slightly confused and having that feeling of Déjà vu. All jokes aside though, there are of course a hell of a lot of similarities with the on going hostilities in Syria and that which occurred in Libya only a few years back. In fact, when you look at the overall scheme of things, it would have been impossible for the situation in Syria to have become as bad as it now had the West not armed and assisted an uprising in Libya, but more on that point in a while.

As with all mysteries, we should be encouraged when investigating to follow the money to ascertain exactly who is pulling the strings and for what reasons, Libya was indeed no different in this respect.

Remember all those emotive news stories on the mainstream news about how bad things were for the 'protesters' in Libya? Remember how we were told how disgustingly radical Gaddafi's Libya was from sources such as the BBC?

Well whilst I'm not going to try and create a false perception of how Libya was with Gaddafi (I never went there so do not know first hand anyway) the truth was that unlike some areas in the Islamic world, under Gaddafi there was a state run health and education system, and it was one of the more free countries especially for women who enjoyed rights to possessions and education.

Obviously the regime was no utopia, and be under no illusion that the country was not run by a dictator, but the image the mainstream media attempted to portrait at the outbreak of the civil war was completely skewed in a blatant attempt to get Westerners to support the rebel forces. Then again, as it transpired after the dust had settled, the UK Government (among others) had been using Libya as a place to imprison and interrogate terror suspects under an agreement with Gadhafi. The moral stance from our Western Governments when dealing with these kinds of situations is therefore worth nothing.

So why was Libya attacked in the first place?

The official story is that protesters were shot by Libyan forces and came back with an army supported by Western Governments (under the ruse of protecting civilians) to fight Gadhafi's Government. The UN then sets up a no-fly zone to facilitate the dropping of laser guided bombs on defenceless targets. It was certainly interesting to see how quickly 'protesters' could turn into an organised convoy of Hilux's with heavy weapons bolted to the back.

Some facts surrounding Libya just before and during the war on Gadhafi however are too much of a coincidence not to stand up and take notice of. For instance, what deals were done between Gadhafi and BP oil interests all under Tony Blair's supervision?

A story about this can be read: here

Then of course there is the whole question of the gold Dimar, where Gadhafi was trying to get the Middle East and Africa to begin trading their resources with a gold standard instead of the US dollar. This would have had serious repercussions for the West and the global economy. Of course Goldman Sachs had already robbed Gadhafi of over a billion dollars when Wall Street's (arguably planned) collapse occurred, which I don't doubt was even more reason for Libya to push for an end to dealing in dollars.

Of course, Libya also had one of the biggest gold reserves on the planet prior to the war, and therefore was more likely a big target for international corporations (and the Governments they own), and I presume the real reason for the war on Libya like most, was purely financial rather than humanitarian.

So why did the uprising occur at all? Once again, follow the money, and you find at least a vague understanding of who and why. The tribal leaders in Libya were paid off through Qatar, but probably also from the CIA and others to do their bidding and were probably promised a big slice of the profits for their trouble.

Still, it didn't stop the UK and others from sending our own soldiers to aid the rebels too.
The SAS were in Libya despite the 'no boots on the ground' promise from our Government at the time (then again, it'd be ridiculous to think that the British and French air forces would trust rebel's laser guidance) as well as from other countries like Qatar (who were probably ensuring their investment was paying out.)

So, how does this tie in with Syria?

Well with Libya defeated half of those rebels that were funded and given weapons turned out to be Islamic fanatics, half of whom have now gone off to Syria to fight Assad's Government, with the new Libyan Government offering support and supplies. However, these al-Qaeda links should be taken with a pinch of salt of course because it was, in its genesis, more or less a product of the CIA during the Russian-Afghan war anyway.

Kind of ironic when Gaddafi himself told the world that the rebels were terrorists. To think we laughed at him as being some insane despot at the time only to find he was right all along!

Now we have a situation where there has been a stalemate between Assad's Government which is supported by China and Russia on the one hand, and the rebel forces which are supported financially and supplied by the Western countries on the other.

We hear on a daily basis now how barbaric both sides have been to each other, but that's just it, that is war. The West has been itching for a reason to start really putting military pressure on Assad and this latest scare of chemical weapons has provided the West some traction to convince the rest of the world that its time for us to begin getting nasty.

It is funny though how months ago America and other countries made statements warning about chemical warfare and how it would resort in intervention, only to have exactly what they warned against come true. Interesting to note however is that despite the news reporting and showing disturbing images of people foaming at the mouth in apparent gas attacks, the location of where this took place is omitted from the report and we have no real verification other than these few videos.

To complicate matters, there is also concerns even from the UN, that these gas attacks were perpetrated by the rebel forces, not the Assad regime. If this is true, then an even more prudent question is where on earth these rebels obtained these weapons. You may find it interesting that the Daily Mail even wrote an article back in January 2013 in which it discussed the possibility of leaked emails exposing a plot by the United States to use chemical weapons only to then blame it on the Syrian Government. The Daily Mail deleted the story a few days later, but fortunately someone managed to screen print the entire article. Whilst its not proof that the story was right, it does raise some valid questions knowing how things have panned out over the past six months.

You can find that Daily mail article; here.

Israel, as usual when it comes to Arab states, has been causing a bit of a issue.

Note as usual the BBC likes to point the blame at Syria, but it is highly suspicious when every time something happens with Israel, its always because Israel gets its forces too close to the border. Although usually its Israel who shoots across borders killing civilians and armed forces alike, even in peacetime.

Now just like in Libya, America, France and the UK is asking the UN to consider a no-fly zone, which invariably would mean more special forces teams laser designating targets for bombers to drop bunker busters on schools and homes again (for the Allies only to wipe their hands clean of the collateral damage, and instead offer loans to rebuild their country.)

According to reports, America has already begun shifting F16's into nearby Jordan where the no-fly-zone can be enforced from, obviously before the UN has even given an official verdict. Russia on the other hand continues to resist any attempt to stop supplying Syria. The official reason behind Russia's decision is that by arming Syria it creates a situation where neither Syria or the Allies have an upper-hand and can therefore come to a peace agreement without Allied threats, but then again this probably has more to do with the large amounts of money to be made in Syria in the arms trade at the moment.

Of course the irony in all this is that despite calls for a no-fly zone by the US and the hysterical reaction to uncertified gas attacks apparently used by Syria, Israel has used depleted uranium bombs on targets in Syria already. Depleted Uranium causes birth defects and cancers for a long time after their use, surely this is a far greater crime than the small reported gas attacks perpetrated against rebel fighters - especially when you consider that Israel has not declared war on Syria in any official capacity.

The justification for the attack on targets in Syria by Israeli jets was that Israel was attacking supplies that would have ended up in Hezbollah hands in places like Lebanon - another hot-spot where Israel's foreign policy leaves much to be desired. Be that as it may, Syria does have supply routes through which Hezbollah forces obtains equipment from Iran, hence the main reason why Lebanese Hezbollah have been fighting for the Assad regime (if for no other reason than to keep their supply corridor open.)

At the end of the day, this is all about money. Everyday people are tricked into fighting and killing one another for the sole purpose of making a few individuals with unfathomable wealth, wealthier.

Oil in Syria is still being found there, and Israel has recently begun drilling for oil in Golan Heights, a territory Israel has occupied from Syria since the Syria-Israeli war in '67.
It's also unsurprising that the European Union has recently lifted a trade embargo off of Syria so that oil can be purchased directly from 'rebel' forces. Again, they have no idea who they are funding, but right now the rebels whether they realise it or not, fight for the corporate giants and Western Governments. Only time will tell how long it takes for these 'rebels' to bite the hand that feeds (like they did in Libya with the embassy attack.)

Corruption is the key in practically all international affairs, its blatantly obvious to anyone, however the insinuation from most Government and mainstream media sources that we are stupid enough to believe what they say is the hardest thing to bare. Being insulted on a daily basis infuriates all those who dare to think for themselves.
Whenever our Governments support war, as a voting public it is our responsibility to remind our elected representatives that this is not done in our names. Big business runs the show and it is wrong, because its ordinary people like us in places like Syria or Libya who get tricked by divide and rule tactics into needless killing each other, a tactic which has been used by imperialists since the dawn of time.

"The Son of Man goes forth to war,
A golden crown to gain;
His blood-red banner streams afar--
Who follows in his train?"

Wyrdnews: A Blog About What?

Well after a while away from writing on a previous blog I believed that a new start was in order in light of recent epiphanies that I've had regarding the world and how it works.

Wyrdnews then is a blog devoted to a range of subjects which I hope will keep people interested and informed. It will cover important current news and trends, history and the latest technological and scientific findings.

On top of this, I will also be trying to incorporate interesting homestead ideas and survivalism into the blog too, skills which given the current state the world finds itself in today may be relied upon relatively soon. I will be doing a series called 'Get-Out', which will follow my own experiences as I begin a more active outdoors lifestyle, and I will do equipment reviews and diary accounts of a noob heading out into the wilds for the first time.

I do have plans in the near future of doing sponsored charity events which will obviously be advertised and written about in due time.

Lastly, I also plan on including articles and stories of a more esoteric nature, commenting on topics of a more 'out-there' perspective which I hope will be interesting and informative.

For those of you wondering about the name of this blog, it means 'Fate News', but 'Wyrd' (pronounced as the modern word, weird) is Old English. The logo is not my own creation either, it is actually the logo for the German car manufacturer 'Wanderer', which was swallowed up by the Audi company.

Thanks for reading and hopefully I can be of interest in the future!
